The bell icon in the top right of Custodian shows your notifications. The number badge tells you how many unread alerts you have.
Notifications fire when a sensor reading exceeds the thresholds set in its climate rule, or when a sensor loses connectivity.
Opening the notification panel
Click the bell icon on any page to open the notification panel. It appears over your current page so you do not lose your place.
Each notification shows the sensor name, the reading that triggered the alert, the expected threshold range, and how long ago it happened. The associated climate rule is shown below the alert text.
Expanding a notification
Click the dropdown arrow on any notification to see more detail:
- Read by: the avatars of team members who have already seen this notification
- Last breach event: when the threshold was most recently exceeded
- Duration: how long the sensor has been out of range
- Current reading: the sensor's latest reading
From the expanded view you can also:
- Click Edit rule to open the associated climate rule and adjust its thresholds or notification rules
- Click Forward event to send this alert to another team member
Flagging a notification
Click the flag icon on a notification to pin it to the top of your list. Flagged notifications stay prominent until you unflag them, making it easy to track alerts that need follow-up.
Archiving a notification
Click the tick icon on a notification to mark it as reviewed. This signals to your team that the event has been acknowledged and dealt with.
Archiving applies across all users in the project. Once one person archives a notification, it moves to the archived view for everyone. Use the Archive button at the top of the panel to view all archived notifications.
Forwarding a notification
Click Forward event in the expanded notification view to send the alert to another team member. Select the user from the dropdown and click Forward event to confirm.
This is useful when you spot something another team member needs to act on, or when you want to escalate an alert to someone outside your usual notification rules.
Filtering notifications
Use the Filter button at the top of the panel to narrow down the list by notification type or status.
Not getting alerts you expected? Check that the sensor is online and that notifications are turned on in its assigned climate rule. See the Rules section to review your notification rules.
