Managing your notifications

Updated

The bell icon in the top right corner of Custodian shows your notifications. The number badge tells you how many unread alerts you have.

Notifications fire when a sensor reading exceeds your climate thresholds, or when a sensor loses connectivity.

Viewing your notifications

Click the bell icon on any page in Custodian to open the notification popover. The popover appears over your current page, so you do not lose your place.

From here you can:

  • See all recent notifications in a list
  • Compare notifications side by side to assess multiple alerts at once
  • See who has read each notification
  • Click any notification to go directly to the relevant sensor or site

You configure which events trigger notifications by setting up notification rules within your climate profiles. See Setting up notifications for a profile for more.

Sharing a notification

You can forward a notification to other users in your project. This is useful when you spot something that another team member needs to act on, or when you want to escalate an alert.

Click the share icon on any notification to choose which users to send it to.

Flagging a notification

Click the flag icon on a notification to pin it to the top of your list. Flagged notifications stay prominent until you unflag them, making it easy to keep track of alerts that need follow-up.

Archiving a notification

Click the tick icon on a notification to mark it as reviewed. This signals to your team that the event has been acknowledged and dealt with.

Archiving applies across all users in the project. Once one person archives a notification, it moves to the archived view for everyone.

If you are receiving too many notifications or missing important ones, review your alert thresholds. Thresholds set too tight can generate a lot of noise.
